Impossible?
2010-01-28 15:00:00
Hey driver, have you ever been caught between a rock and a hard place? Maybe you’re there right now. I once talked to a driver who was ready to give his tractor to anyone who wanted it. He’d been driving a tractor that someone gave him and things were going really well, until it broke down. The repair estimate was more than he had. The situation seemed impossible to him. But while we were visiting, he received a call from the shop. Turned out, it was just a clogged fuel filter and the repair would be a fraction of the cost. He had the money for that. Soon, he was back on the road.
I’ve heard similar stories from others, too. Of course, there are times when the problems don’t get solved so easily. But sometimes when we get into a jam that we believe is impossible, that’s just when a miracle occurs. Tell us your story. Comment here.

Don’t Get Hooked on Religion
2010-01-27 12:01:00
Is there more to life than driving a truck? I have run into drivers who love it, drivers who want out of it and those who do it because it’s the only thing they feel they can do. There are still others who ask if this is all to life? They are looking for fulfillment.
I’ve met drivers who ran into a religious person who gave them a list of do’s and don’ts. By religious, I mean people who believe it’s possible to reach God through their own efforts, good deeds or by creating good karma. However, sometimes now matter how much good you do, bad things still happen. Religion like that is unfulfilling because it’s man’s invention and doesn’t answer life’s more painful questions. However, there is a better way to find fulfillment. Contact us to learn more. Comment here.

Pornography is a Downward Spiral
2010-01-26 09:52:00
Driver, have you looked at porn? Many claim that porn is victimless and is a freedom of choice issue. However, lives have been ruined because of it; both by those who use it and those who create it. Porn is a progressive addiction; what satisfied yesterday, is not good enough today. Many, who would never visit a prostitute, have done so because of their porn addiction. Not only will you lose money, but you can lose your life if you get a sexually transmitted disease from the encounter.
The word pornography comes from the Greek language and means “a written or illustrated description of prostitutes or prostitution.” Nudie pictures are based on a fantasy designed solely to get your money. The images are not even real. However, it creates unrealistic expectations within a marriage. A man begins to expect things from his wife that she cannot not do. The irony is that people use porn because they want sexual intimacy, but they end up frustrated and separated from normal healthy relationships because of these “side effects”. It is a downward spiral that will ruin you and your marriage. Get help before it’s too late. Contact us. Comment here.

Overcome Challenges in Three Steps
2010-01-25 14:29:00
A helpful took I’ve used to overcome life’s challenges is a simple three step approach. Step one - completely assess your circumstances or situation. Step two – develop the goals you want to achieve because of the circumstances and a plan to achieve them. Remember to think both long and short term for this step. Step three - implement the plan. I find doing these steps help me to stay organized and able to manage the growth that is needed.
Another helpful tool is to have someone who is close to you evaluate the effectiveness of your plan. They can help monitor your progress and keep you focused on the changes you need to make. Let us know if we can help. Comment here.

Your Motivation Will Determine Your Recovery
2010-01-21 13:21:00
Recovery is never easy. There are a couple of motivations that can either help or hurt the process. A good motivator is humility or teachability. If we approach our situation with an attitude of being teachable, we will expedite the process. However, if you enter recovery with an attitude of anger, you won’t get very far. Another motivator that isn’t helpful is rehearsal or pretense. The recovery process is not a play that you can act your way through. Instead, a more helpful motivator is sincerity or honesty. Being honest about what you’re struggling with will help those working with you in your recovery. Call us if we can help. Comment here.

How Do You Respond to Suffering?
2010-01-20 08:21:00
How do you respond to suffering? Before you answer, here are a few things you should consider. Suffering is. This means that it exists and always will regardless of your actions in life. Suffering seems unjust and is universal and inescapable. However, we cannot respond passively.
Now that you think about these things, let me ask you again. How do you respond to suffering? Let’s talk about it. Comment here.

Crazy Orders
2010-01-19 09:20:00
In the service, when orders didn't make sense we'd say, "Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die." The meaning of this expression was simple. Even if the orders seemed goofy, we still had to carry them out.
Ever had your dispatcher give you orders that don’t make sense? Orders like “pass by Buffalo before going to Cleveland” when you picked up your load in Toledo to deliver in Cleveland. It seems like a long way off route to get to Cleveland and a waste of time and resources. But sometimes either the dispatcher or the owner has a purpose in asking this that we don’t see or know anything about. They may be viewing the situation from another vantage point. Tell us about the times when experienced this. What did you learn? Comment here.

Let Nature Keep You Company
2010-01-18 08:39:00
Loneliness is one of the most difficult parts of being a trucker. You’re alone and miles from home. There are good ways to escape the feelings of loneliness. Notice the scenery while you’re on the road; sunrise, sunset, mountains, lakes, rivers and even the beauty of the ribbon of highway as it stretches ahead of you or behind you. Nature’s beauty and bounty can fill your mind and heart and lift your spirits. At the end of your day, if the feelings of loneliness return, call someone to share the beauty of your day with and ask them about the beauty in theirs. It will fill your time with something encouraging. No one to call, you say? That’s where we come in. Give us a ring. Comment here.

A Spoonful of Sugar Helps…
2010-01-15 10:39:00
Kindness is a lost attribute in our society today. In regards to your family, we should show true kindness in all situations. This means that we avoid harshness and being punitive with our children during the discipline times. Yelling at your spouse or kids will get you nowhere fast (trust me, I know). Learn to show kindness in your voice, actions and words in both good and bad times. Doing this will pay rich dividends to you later in life. Give us a call. We’re here to help you learn more about kindness today. Comment here.

Committed Caring
2010-01-14 11:44:00
You’ve probably heard the expression “All roads lead to Rome”, right? Well, it generally means that any path will lead you to the same destination. However this is certainly NOT the case with managing difficulties while living on the road. There is no single or best way to address the struggles we experience. But, there is one method to help you through those times that does really seem to help; Building relationships with those who love and care about you enough to listen to and spend the time necessary to help you work through personal problems. Who do you turn to for that kind of support? Are you that kind of person for the people in your life? Let us know if we can help. Comment here.

Outlook Affects Outcome
2010-01-13 10:00:00
If you have ever gotten help or counseling for an addiction issue, then you are what’s called a “care seeker”. Whether it was “self-inflicted” or you were forced into getting help by someone else, it probably was for the best. There are two types of care seekers; optimistic and pessimistic. If you’re optimistic, recovery goes much faster because you hold on to this mindset. However, if your pessimistic, it will take longer to recover simply for the mere fact that you don’t really believe recovery is possible. Driver, if you are seeking help, be optimistic about the outcome. It will make the entire process a lot better for you. Need help? Comment here.

What’s Your Answer for Suffering?
2010-01-12 08:56:00
Do you feel that suffering is unreasonable, unjust, or irrational? It would be very easy to explain it in this manner, but the truth is we don’t always know why there is suffering. Just like it is easy to say that bad choices always lead to bad consequences, or bad consequences are the result of bad choices. However, this too is not always true. Instead, we need to approach our suffering with humility while holding on to something that is solid and secure. What or who do you hold on to? Comment here.

What Do You Expect in the New Year?
2010-01-11 15:44:00
Last year on New Year’s Day, while stopping at the truck stop to fuel up, a TV crew came up to me and asked that question. Now, I ask you the same question: What do you expect in the New Year? Do you hope for more miles this year than last year? Maybe you are working for a new company and are looking for more regular home times.
Have you ever thought about how this relates to your lifestyle? What kind of character are you developing in this New Year? Is integrity or honesty part of it? When we die, we all leave a legacy behind, whether good or bad. What kind of legacy would you leave behind if you died this year? Do some changes need to be made? We can help. Comment here.

Do Something Different
2010-01-08 10:29:00
Life on the road can become long and difficult at times. Sometimes it’s hard to get through it. But if you desire to move through it successfully, manage your circumstances better than before, or have more meaningful, fulfilling relationships, then you’re in the right spot. Albert Einstein once said “If you want different results, do not do the same things.” The first step to changing your life is to do something different than what you’ve done before. Let us know how we can help. Comment here.

Is There Joy in Your Family Life?
2010-01-07 09:52:00
Do you find real joy in your family relationships? I’m not talking about each and every day, day in and day out. Not every minute of our relationships with our spouses and children are fantastic. No, I’m talking about when you remember watching your kids grow up, seeing them mature and become adults. Or when you consider the development of your marriage relationship today from where it was a year ago. If these thoughts don’t bring you joy, then give us a call and see if we can help. Comment here.

Essential to Recovery
2010-01-06 12:04:00
Have you ever found yourself needing a fresh start? Some people refer to this process as recovery. If you’re looking for help for your recovery, there are a few standards that you should find in those offering you that help. The first thing is love. Make sure whoever is helping you does everything in love. The second thing is truth or wisdom. Sometimes, the information they offer might hurt your feelings, but it’s for your own good. Third, make sure that hope is planted deeply in your fresh start. Hold firmly to the hope that things will change. Lastly, have faith that you can restart and have a better life. Need help? Football and Marriage
2010-01-05 14:28:00
The structure and teamwork displayed in football simply amazes me. Some say “The best offense is a good defense.” It’s sure exciting to see a defensive lineman recover a fumble and run it in for a touchdown. However, this type of action is not the goal for a defensive player. Their objective is to guard their territory and prevent the other team from advancing.
In marriage, a good defense does not make a good offense. The next time you find yourself in a struggle, don’t try to be a defensive player and guard your territory. Instead, be a good offensive player by working together to solve the problem. Call us if we can help. Comment here.

What’s Your Response to Suffering?
2010-01-04 14:20:00
Buried deep within the hearts of most drivers I know is the desire to avoid the evil and suffering often found out on the road. How do we solve the suffering we face? One of the most common responses is to place the blame on others or ourselves. Let me encourage you not to try this. The truth is bad things happen regardless of what we’ve done or who we are. The solution lies in how we respond when bad things happen. Tell us how you handle these issues. Comment here.
